HMF – Hot Rolling Mill Lubricant

High-Performance Lubrication for Hot Rolling Mills

Outstanding performance, even under the most demanding operating conditions.

HMF is a new generation of lubricants designed for a wide range of hot rolling applications, including strip, bar and tube rolling.

HMF lubricants form stable water-based dispersions. When the oil-water mixture is applied to the roll bite, the oil separates instantaneously, forming a stable lubricating film that ensures continuous and effective lubrication throughout the rolling process.

HMF technology helps customers achieve ambitious production targets, support debottlenecking programs and improve strip surface quality.

Kimya acts as a strategic partner, providing fully integrated turnkey solutions:

  • Advanced formulations: Lubricants tailor made for the specific hot mill operating parameters.
  • Lubricant-supply systems: Application technologies engineered according to the specific mill design.
  • Continuous support: An ongoing technical assistance program designed to ensure sustained performance, monitoring and process optimization.

HMF: advanced lubrication technology for the most extreme rolling conditions.

Hot Rolling Oil Technology

HMF is applied as a water-based dispersion, which carries the lubricant directly to the roll bite. The lubrication level can be precisely adjusted by varying the oil concentration in water.
Thanks to its polar properties, the oil adheres firmly to the contacting surfaces, ensuring uniform and highly effective lubrication.

HMF reduces roll wear while increasing mill productivity and improving strip surface quality, even during the longest and most demanding rolling campaigns.

HMF technology has also been successfully implemented in particularly severe applications, such as stainless steel rolling, where it delivers a significant reduction in friction and work roll wear, together with a marked improvement in the surface quality of the rolled product.
